History of Disposables

Elf Bars are the quintessential Disposable Vape. When you think of disposables, there’s really only one brand that comes to mind and that’s for good reason: Elf Bar’s were the first (and therefore) the most successful single-use vape devices on the market and still hold that title to this day. Simplicity is often a key factor in a brands success and it’s no different in this case. Launched in 2020, Elf Bar disposables featured very simple flavours which were entirely fruity, sweet and cold.

Elf Bars and their effect on the vaping industry

Elf Bars are the simplest form of vape – just inhale on the mouthpiece and dispose of responsibly once the battery or E-Liquid has depleted. This proved to be a winning formula for the vape industry and it enabled a great many smokers to make the transition away from smoking without having to understand atomisers, mods, batteries, power draw, Ohm’s law etc. In this regard Elf Bars have done a great service in getting people off tobacco and onto a less dangerous alternative, as claimed by both the NHS (National Health Service) and PHE (Public Health England).

As of Summer 2023, Elf Bar have released a new version of their flagship disposable which they simply call “V2”. Whether you choose the original Elf Bar 600 or their newer 600 V2, the flavour list remains much the same.

In this article we discover the best Elf Bar flavours and rank them according to their flavour strength, authenticity, sweetness & complexity. Note that these things are subjective and although we enjoy a flavour, you may not – so take this with a pinch of salt!

Who doesn’t like Watermelon? And with a twist of sugary Bubblegum?! This one goes hard with it’s strong and authentic flavour, a duo of juicy watermelon and soft & sweet Bubblegum. We think it’s authenticity is what makes it a winner, not to mention the fact it’s hard to put down. 

A tantalising blend of soft Blueberries and Sour Raspberry. A great combination which was guaranteed success from the beginning because who doesn’t like Blueberry? That’s what makes Blue Slush so great and this is the same. A fantastically fruity flavour with enough complexity and authenticity to place it firmly in second place (and it’s a close one)! 

A more complicated flavour in the range which is nice to see. Not only is its complexity a strength (which is hard to get right), each individual flavour is discernible. Ripe Strawberry, tart raspberry and juicy cherry make this another All-Day-Vape in the range. A good amount of sweetness, authentic flavour and complexity pull this one to the third position. 

A nice and simple, classic flavour especially in disposable vapes. We didn’t have high hopes for this one as Cherry isn’t the easiest profile to nail – but that’s just what Elf Bar did. This flavour is like real Cherries and you’ll savour every lung-full. Sweet, juicy, delicious. Simple. 

Considering how much we liked their straight-Cherry flavour, we assumed that Cherry Cola would be just as good. We weren’t wrong – it has the same Cherry flavour profile with the addition of an almost carbonated Cola nuance in the background. It’s very pleasant, refreshing and moreish. 

Another classically simple yet strong flavour in the range. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: who doesn’t like Blueberry? This is a great example of the assertion that simple is often best – whilst it’s not our favourite flavour it’s certainly one we enjoyed vaping. Ripe, soft and juicy Blueberry on the exhale and inhale!   

Blue Raspberry, in Lemonade form. Tantalising, refreshing, sweet, juicy & just down right delicious. This is a perfect summer’s day vape which ticks all the boxes. The only problem is: you’ll only get 600 puffs. If only someone could make such great flavours in E-Liquid form? Hint hint…. 

Banana is a somewhat unusual fruit especially when it comes to vaping. It’s not juicy like Watermelon or  crisp like Green Apple. But it is smooth. Elf Bar Banana Ice is a  smooth and gently sweet flavour, backed by just the right amount of Koolada ws-23 for that cooling sensation.   

Our Conclusion on Elf Bar’s flavours

Elf Bar made it simple for themselves and the customer with their ethos which is something along the lines of: “Give people what they want”. It turns out what people wanted was simple yet bold and authentic flavours in a super-simple format. Just inhale to activate. The rest is history.  

The range of flavours which Elf Bar employed in their infamous disposable has since spawned a myriad other brands all trying to take a slice of the action. Unfortunately for the industry, there have been some consequences of the immense success of these single-use devices as governments look for solutions to youth vaping and the environmental disaster they represent.  

Whilst we enjoy a great many flavours by Elf Bar, we’re not fans of the devices for a few reasons:  

• Single use design is damaging to the environment. Millions have entered landfill  
• The prolific nature of the devices puts them in the eyes of young people and children. Most convenience stores carry them 
• The drive for convenience above all-else hints at societal problems. Are we getting more and more lazy?  

Why are we reviewing them? Because we wish to aid in the transition from smoking to vaping for whoever lands on our website. If we can help someone to quit smoking then we consider our job done – or partly!
