Nic Shot Calculator – Calculate Nicotine Shots Instantly
Our simple & easy to use nic shot calculator is a powerful tool, allowing you to quickly calculate the required nicotine to mix up your E-Liquid accurately. Getting the correct volume of liquid correct is essential, as adding too much can potentially ruin the whole batch! This nic shot calculator works for both freebase nicotine and salt nicotine. Simply plug in your values and watch it do the maths instantly for you. The input values for the calculator to work effectively are:
- Liquid – this is your E-Liquid not containing nicotine
- Target Nicotine Strength – This is displayed in mg/ml – don’t get this confused with the percentages. For example: 3mg/ml is 0.3% nicotine
- Nicotine Shot Strength – This is the strength of the nicotine shots you’re going to add to your e liquid. We’ve chosen 20mg as it’s by far our most popular.
How the Nic Shot Calculator Works
- On the left hand-side you will find the input values which include the above three variables. The first is the Liquid you have (no nicotine in it) and this is displayed on a slider so you can chose from 50 – 250ml. Slide the dial or type the desired figure into the box to get started.
- Next you will need to select the desired nicotine strength from the dropdown. We’ve offered 3mg, 6mg & 12mg as these are the most common choices.
- The last option is for your nicotine shot strength – and as mentioned we’ve only offered 20mg as it’s our most popular choice by far.
- Once you’ve selected your variables, the calculator will display the figures in the box to the right of the screen.
The first line shows the number of nicotine shots you will require for the desired strength. Sometimes this number is not a whole number so we’ve also included a figure below it for greater accuracy. The next number is the volume (in millilitres) of the nic shots required. If this number is 1.5, then you’ll need 15ml of nicotine shots. Finally, the calculator displays the final volume once you’ve added your nicotine.
What Can this Nic Shot Calculator Be Used For?

For many people, DIY vaping just isn’t something they want to get involved with. This is probably due to it’s perceived inconvenience over traditional, ready to vape eliquid like nic salts. The benefit of making the switch and mixing your own e liquid boils down to value & customisability. As the manufacturer, producing DIY solutions like Hackshots & One Shots is significantly cheaper than nicotine salts, and we pass this saving onto the customer. Step-by-Step: How to Use Our Nic Shot Calculator
Our nicotine shot calculator is structured in 3 parts:
- Batch Setup – this is what you WANT to have when finished and includes: Amount to make/Final Nic Strength/Ratio between Vg/Pg
- Nicotine Base Values – this pertains to the nicotine shots you’re using and includes: the nicotine strength in mg/Ratio between Vg/Pg
- Flavour – the volume of flavour you have to hand
Step 1:
Input the details of your batch setup – you need to decide what nicotine strength you desire in your e-liquid, as well as how much you want to make and what Vg/Pg ratio you’d like.
Example: if you’ve bought a 250ml Hackshot containing 50ml flavour, and you want to mix it at 3mg/ml with a Vg/Pg ratio of 70/30, then you’d input these values as such:

Step 2:
Input the details for the nic shots you have to hand. If they’re 20mg/ml or 2%, and have a Vg/Pg ratio of 70/30, you’d type this in as such:

Step 3:
Ensure you add how many millilitres of flavour you have in the bottle, you’ll need to check the box to allow you to type this figure in.

Step 4:
This is where you find the values you’re looking for. The below image shows what you’ll need to complete the mix at your desired nic strength & vg/pg ratio. You can see the result includes the flavour volume you typed in at 50ml, then it calls for 37.5ml of the nic shots you have, 148.8ml Vg & 37.5ml PG.
